Although everyone's daily nutritional needs are a bit different and require unique supplemental support, these dietary supplements are some of the key products that support Jon Barron's "Baseline of Health ®" concept outlined in his book "Lessons from the Miracle Doctors." No matter how careful you are about health and nutrition, in today's environment you need to supplement for optimum health. Pollution, toxins, lack of nutrients and minerals in food, mass production of fruits and vegetables that reduce natural probiotics in foods, and cooking food that kills natural enzymes all take a daily toll on your body. When combined with your favorite multivitamin, this daily nutrition package will help you "take back your health" so you can optimize your overall well-being, and natural immunity.

Daily Nutrition Package Frequently Asked Questions

Private Reserve Superfood FAQs

Are the ingredients in the Jon Barron's Private Reserve Superfood all raw (unheated)?

Because all of the ingredients in the Superfood go through minimal processing and exposure to heat, they qualify as raw. Understand, ingredients such as the chlorella are no longer technically living as they have had their cell walls broken for digestibility. But the process used for breaking down the chlorella is mechanical (sound vibration in water), not heat based.

Can I use Jon Barron's Private Reserve Superfood as a replacement for the multi-vitamin I now take? I also take Jon's Probiotic Formula daily, as well as his Digestive Enzymes with each meal.

Actually, the Private Reserve Superfood was specifically designed NOT to be a replacement for a daily multi-vitamin. Most people already have a favorite multivitamin that they already take. You might want to read exactly what the formula does and does not do.

I have severe allergies to anything containing "gluten." Does the Private Reserve Superfood contain gluten?

Gluten is the main protein in wheat. Most people have some degree of allergy to it. Some people, however, have a severe allergic reaction to it. This is primarily the result of the large gluten proteins entering the blood stream and forming circulating immune complexes. Even though we do not use wheat, or wheat based products, in any of our formulas, there is a small amount of gluten in the wheatsprout and wheatgrass used in Private Reserve Superfood , but the amount per serving is negligible. In addition, the process of sprouting significantly reduces the allergy-producing potential of even that negligible amount of gluten. There is also a trace amount of gluten in the Aktivated Barely (1/4 of percent). So far, no one suffering from celiac has indicated that they have a problem with our Private Reserve Superfood health supplement.

pHi-Zymes FAQs

What is the difference between Digestive Enzymes and the proteolytic enzymes in pHi-Zymes? Do I need them both?

Yes, you need both Digestive and Proteolytic Enzymes. Digestive Enzymes are for digesting the food you eat. Proteolytic Enzymes are taken "between" meals and are for cleansing the blood. You can read more about their differences at www.baselinenutritionals.com. Go to Shop and click on the name of the product you are interested in. An ingredient list will pop up. Click on each ingredient name for more information. Scroll down for directions and a Barron Report.

How soon can I expect to see my pH go up after taking pHi-Zymes ?

pHi-Zymes will certainly help in that regard, but if your primary interest is raising pH, there are far less expensive options such as coral calcium or AlkaZone Alkaline Booster Drops that will raise pH even more. Keep in mind, the primary purpose for using the CMIK pH buffering system in the pHi-Zymes is to improve the efficacy of the formula. Raising body pH is a secondary effect -- and that effect is dose dependent.

I would like to know if taking Digestive Enzymes or pHi-Zymes long-term will cause the body to shut down its own ability to produce digestive enzymes.

If that were a problem, then eating uncooked foods would shut down the body's ability to produce enzymes since all raw food is packed with digestive enzymes. In fact, you could then even make the argument that eating a diet of all cooked processed food was incredibly healthy – which, of course, is nonsense. When you supplement with enzymes, your body doesn't stop producing enzymes, it just redirects its energy to producing more useful metabolic enzymes.

What does 1,400 FIP for lipase in the Digestive Enzymes equal in LU's, which is what I see listed on some other company's enzyme formulas?

The short answer to your question is that the ratio is about 1:10, which means if expressed in LU, the formula for Digestive Enzymes would read Lipase 14,000 LU.

The long answer is that FIP and LU are both attempts to accurately assay enzyme activity. Assay accuracy and reproducibility are the most stringent requirements for the determination of enzyme potencies in nutraceutical formulations. Weight measures such as mgs tell you nothing about enzyme activity. You could have 5,000 mg of an enzyme that had been cooked at high temperature and have 0 activity left. FIP (an acronym for Fédération Internationale Pharmaceutique/International Pharmaceutical Federation) is a more accurate standard than LU (an acronym for Lipase Units). Over the last 20 years, FIP has emerged as the overwhelming choice over LU for measuring enzyme activity in fats because it produces more accurate and consistent results.

Enzyme activity is determined by the quantity of substrate (fats, proteins, carbohydrates -- whatever substance the enzyme is working on) broken down by the enzyme per unit of time. Accuracy in determining activity becomes a problem because the reaction rate that is measured depends on a number of experimental conditions such as temperature, pH, ionic strength, and the presence or absence of inhibitors or activators. It is only under the conditions specified in the prescribed assay procedure that enzyme units are defined. This is why different standards produce different accuracy.

Catalyst Altered Trace Minerals FAQs

I have been drinking distilled water for years, while adding minerals to my diet. Today I read an article about the dangers (hair loss, mineral deficiencies) of drinking distilled water. I can see that my hair is not falling out, but how do I test the mineral content of my body? Do you recommend an additive for my distilled water with instructions on its use?

As Jon Barron says in Lessons from the Miracle Doctors:

Distilled water, by definition, has no mineral content. For years there has been much debate as to whether that's good or bad. "Distillerites" claim that demineralized water is more natural—like rainwater and glacier water—and that minerals in the water end up in your joints. The argument against distillers is that most animals drink water that has had contact with the ground and acquired a high mineral content. Prime examples are the high mineral water of the Hunzas and the coral calcium water of the islands off of Okinawa—two areas renowned for the age and health of their inhabitants. As for me, I don't think it matters, provided that if you drink distilled water, you make sure that your diet and supplements provide an abundant supply of minerals. And as for the question of mineral-laden water leading to joint deposits, studies have proven that the calcium which deposits in joints comes from inside the body—leached from your own bones because of too much acid in your diet — not from supplemental minerals.

Incidentally, adding Catalyst Altered Trace Minerals to distilled water covers all of the issues that Jon mentioned.

I am already taking a daily mineral supplement, should I take your liquid minerals too? What is the difference?

Most mineral supplements include the major minerals (minerals required in milligrams per day) such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, zinc, etc. that doctors have set daily requirements for. Catalyst Altered Trace Minerals , on the other hand, provide the 72 trace minerals (minerals required in micrograms) that doctors have not set daily requirements for and that are missing from most foods and supplements – and yet, as doctors are now just learning, are equally important to good health. In addition, this supplement contains a healthy dose of magnesium – a major mineral that is often under represented in most health supplements.

Your liquid minerals come from the Great Salt Lake. Will there be too much sodium in your liquid trace minerals?

The sodium has been removed from Catalyst Altered Trace Minerals . There is less than 6 mg of sodium in an entire day's dose. That's less than one percent of your daily requirement for sodium.

Probiotics FAQs

Since the Probiotics and pHi-Zymes are both to be taken on an empty stomach, is it ok to take them together?

It's probably best to take them separately. We asked Jon Barron about this, and he said that he takes his evening dose of pHi-Zymes about a half hour before bed on an empty stomach. He then takes his Probiotics a half hour later, just before bed. That allows the pHi-Zymes time to clear the stomach before the Probiotics enter.

I've read that unless probiotics are encapsulated in "beadlets," they may not survive the trip to the intestines because of stomach acids. Is that true?

If probiotics were destroyed unless encapsulated, then for all the centuries people who ate probiotic rich foods such as yogurt and sauerkraut would have received no benefit since those probiotics would have been destroyed too. This would, of course, nullify the entire argument for taking probiotic supplements in the first place. But we know that's not true and that eating probiotic rich foods absolutely builds beneficial bacteria throughout the intestinal tract. Bottom line: probiotics make it through the stomach quite nicely – and in fact, most probiotic supplements are specifically designed to survive stomach acid.

How do you ensure the potency of your probiotics?

We manufacture our Probiotics in small batches and the bottles are shipped on ice in special containers. Once they arrive at our fulfillment center, the bottles are put in a freezer until the day they're shipped out to ensure that they are at maximum potency when shipped to you. We highly recommend using Express delivery when possible for any order that contains the Probiotics during the warmer months (generally, June 1 – October 1) to maintain that potency. In non summer months, the few days in transport will not significantly affect potency as long as you refrigerate the product upon receiving it.
